Coffee and Mount Pleasant

A Short History

Coffee has a rich and global history, but in Mount Pleasant, the story of good coffee begins with Annie's Place. Founded by Anne Boudreau shortly after the town's incorporation in 1878, Annie's Place quickly became the heart of the community. Known as "the place to be," it thrived for over a century until it closed its doors in 1986.

After Annie's Place, the historic Schofield Building housed various businesses until Scott Bennett restored it in 2008. Today, Banks Road Roasters proudly occupies the same space, continuing the legacy of great coffee and community. As Scott says, "I'm proud to be part of Mount Pleasant's history, and I like to think Annie would approve."
